Chartered by Congress in 1958, The Military Order of the Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nationwide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

VIOLA CAPITOL OF THE WORLD

As members of the most honored group of American Veterans “walk tall”

with honest straight-forward endeavor by sharing your pride with your fellowmen. Allow others to feel the proud esteem and respect which has been won by the Purple Heart Citation holders by one time each year giving everyone opportunity to purchase and wear the VIOLA.

The VIOLA is the National Flower of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Deep-hued and wide-blossomed, the purple floral symbol was adopted in January 1946 as was the proclamation designating August 7th through August 14th inclusive, adopted as Purple Heart Week in the United States. August 7th chosen because that was the date that General George Washington created the Order of the Purple Heart Citation, and August 14th which is the anniversary date of V-J Day. Viola “tag days” are generally held during this momentous week. Prestige and funds grow abundantly from publicity and the profitable proceeds.

VIOLA wreaths, VIOLA cards and bronze grave markers have emerged through necessity. (The wreaths as commemorative memorials; the cards as a means to publicize the “tag days”; and the grave markers for the Veterans’ final resting places.)

Full knowledge of the origin, the background and the use of the proceeds must be given to the municipality authority in which the sale is to be made so permission will be given for the solicitation. Refer to the price list to purchase the needed supplies well in advance of the days of the sale. Set your dates and use the news media. Viola window cards placed in all business establishments, which the merchant gladly makes a good-will contribution for its use to let them participate in this worthy cause, is good publicity. Organization of member sales personnel and easily accessible selling stations with a plentiful supply of VIOLAS makes the project easier.

Upon the completion of the Viola sale, keep an accurate financial record of the best localities, the most enthusiastic of the sales personnel, funds realized and the use of the proceeds.

The VIOLA wears proudly. It is habitual. Please feel free to call or write to us should you need our help.

SINCERE BEST WISHES AND CONTINUED GREAT SUCCESS
